Did you know that whey is a by-product of the cheese making process? Did you know that pigs love to drink whey and the result is a tender and tasty pork product?
Our Vermont pigs are raised outdoors on pasture, organic von Trapp whey, organic Red Hen bread and spent grains from Sean Lawson's brewery. We currently sell either whole or half pigs and usually have a new batch ready once a month.
A fresh, uncut whole or half pig can be purchased at $3.50 per lb hanging weight. Whole pigs usually weigh approximately 200 to 220 lbs.
A cut and packaged whole or half pig can be purchased at $7.00 per lb. Half a pig is approximately 60 to 70 lbs of pork and would include:
- 3 to 6 lb shoulder roast
- 2 half uncured hams 12 to 18 lbs total
- 7 to 10 lbs country style ribs
- 1 to 2 lbs baby back ribs
- 2 to 3 lbs spare ribs
- 5 to 7 lbs chops
- 1 lb tenderloin
- 10 lbs bacon
- 2 to 4 lbs ground
- 5 lbs sweet Italian sausage
- 5 lbs hot Italian sausage
- 5 lbs breakfast sausage
A cut and packaged half pig will cost approximately $450 to $500 total.
A $200 deposit is required to reserve your order with the balance being due upon pick-up at our farm. If ordering a fresh, uncut whole or half pig, delivery can be arranged for an additional fee.
